Zurab Tsereteli (Russian: Зураб Константинович Церетели), born January 4,
1934 in Georgia, is a world renowned artist, sculptor and designer best known
for his world wide public monuments. He graduated from the Academy of Arts in
Tbilisi (Georgia) in 1958. Tsereteli is also a recognized master of mosaics,
cloisonne enamels, stained glass compositions, works in chased metal, sculptures
in sheet copper and bronze.
Since 1997 to the present Zurab Tsereteli has been a president of the Russian
Academy of Arts (established in 1757).
Tsereteli is actively involved in public activity as a member of the Public
Chamber of the Russian Federation and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The artist has
numerous honorary titles and awards.
