Photographs from Private Archives of Zurab Tsereteli Are on Show in Zurab Gallery

On January 22, 2008 in the former studio of President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli in Tverskoi Boulevard in Moscow opens an exhibition of photographs from his private archives, RIA News was informed by press-service of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMMA).

“Pictures for the exhibition have been selected by the MMMA Director Vasili Tsereteli together with his colleagues, eventually visitors will see over 150 photos” – said the press-service.

The photographs show Zurab Tsereteli both at work and in the company of his guests and friends, among them are noted persons such as Raisa Gorbacheva, Marcello Mastroianni, Robert de Niro. For forty years of its existence, the Moscow studio of  President of the Russian Academy of Arts  has been visited by many people whose names are related to the history of modern culture and science: Maya 
Plisetskaya; Eldar Ryazanov; Vladimir Vysotski, Joseph Kobzon; Galina Volchek; Rolan Bykov; Peter Kapitsa; Svyatoslav Fedorov, Leonid Roshal. The exhibition “Studio. Events. History” features all of them during their informal friendly meetings.

Tsereteli’s studio was opened to the public in February 2007 as Zurab Gallery. “This place is very dear to me and I hope that new generations of artists will feel themselves  here as comfortable as me for all 40 years in the studio” , said Tsereteli at the opening ceremony for Zurab Gallery.

The exhibition will be on display from January 22 through February 17, 2008.
