The Joy of Existence: Solo Show of the Honored Artist of Russia Elena Mukhina in Tsereteli Art Gallery

Tsereteli Art Gallery presents more than fifty paintings by of the Honored Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Elena Mukhina. The Joy of Existence exhibition includes several cycles of paintings created by the artist for the last five years: Indian Summer, In the Baths, Five Pearls, The Joy of Existence.  

The work by Elena Mukhina is a brilliant event in today’s culture. Her paintings miraculously exist at the verge of a chamber genre and monumental canvas and are a kind of a “picturesque song” of rich sensitivity and full-blooded beauty of Russian women’s existence. The artist’s each work proves her bright poetics, original manner, the power of her pictorial language and boldness of creative searches.

Elena Mukhina was born in Yaroslavl in 1954 into a family of the artist F.V. Novotelnov. She studied at the Yaroslavl Art College under V. Leontiev, Y. Druzhinina – pupils of the noted master Alexander Osmerkin. Since 1975 she has been an active participant in numerous Russian and international art shows including a joint exhibition with Nickolai Mukhin in Kologne (Germany), two Russia-Italy exhibitions of  pastel painting, The Golden Ring of Russia exhibition, Objects of Love solo show in Tsereteli Art Gallery. In 1985 she became a Member of the USSR Union of Artists. In 2000-2003 Elena Mukhina was a member of the Board of Directors of the Yaroslavl Department of the Artists’ Union of Russia. She is a holder of the “To the Worthy” medal and Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Her paintings are in private collections in Russia, Great Britain, Germany, France, Japan, the United States, as well as in museum collections in Yaroslavl, Rybinsk, Norilsk, Exceter (Great Britain), Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
