The Russian Academy of Arts presents a solo show of the Honored Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrey Zakharov. The exhibition features works produced by the artist for the last five years.

Andrey Zakharov was born in Rostov Veliky in 1967. He studied at the School of Miniature Painting in Fedoskino. In 1987 he graduated from the Yaroslavl Art College. In 2007, the artist became a winner of the Central Federal Region’s Prize  in  Literature and Arts. He is a holder of the Gold and Silver Medals of the Russian Academy of Arts, a participant of numerous art shows, plain air exhibitions in Russia and other countries, Sotheby’s and Christie’s charitable auctions. His works are in collections of state art museums in Kostroma, Belgorod, Voronezh, Vyshni Volochek, Rostov Veliky, Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg, as well as in Art Museum of the Chinese Province of Shandong. Andrey Zakharov lives and works in Kostroma.

On display at the Russian Academy of Arts are works mostly resulting from the artist’s trips to the Russian North, to the shores of the White Sea, Karelia, the Republic of Komi. He depicts the wild nature of his favorite Russian northern provinces using his picturesque language “a la prima” focusing on his personal view and reflections of the surrounding world. Compositionally his works possess some monumental sounding, at the same time, the master of color relations, he forms up his painting on colorful nuances and his expressive brush strokes create a rich texture with the vibration of light and color.
