PERSONALITIES – ZURAB TSERETELI: EXHIBITION OF ZURAB TSERETELI IN THE LIECHTENSTEIN NATIONAL MUSEUM

The Liechtenstein National Museum presents a solo exhibition of works by the world renowned artist Zurab Tsereteli, the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, Chevalier of the National Order of the Legion of Honor (France). Organized under the support of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and timed to the artist’s 85th anniversary, the exhibition features paintings and drawings which topics are based on traditions, folklore, myths and religious motifs.

Zurab Tsereteli was born in Tbilisi on January 4th, 1934. The monumentality is the word that best describes Zurab Tsereteli’s activity: all of it is monumental – his sculptures, paintings and drawings. The monumentality in this context means grandeur, brilliance in the best sense of the word - the significant or even sacred in its human dimension that imparts a mythical feeling to his works of art.
