The project continues a series of “family” exhibitions in the halls of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street).

“Two” is not only a union of two hearts, but also of two powerful talents, individuals, who for many years work, inspire and complement each other, like-minded people whose dialogue gives the viewer truly expressive examples of creative achievements. Both artists are graduates of V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, Members of the Artists’ Union of Russia. Fr om 1989 to 2008 they together executed a number of wall paintings in the technique of fresco and cold encaustic in Lithuania, France, Italy including churches and cathedrals in Corsica and Umbria. Since 1993-2003, they were organizers of group exhibitions in the Atrium hall of Baltschug-Kempinski hotel in Moscow. Anastasia Sokolova and Valery Chernoritsky participated in many All-Russian and international exhibition projects, their solo shows were held in Russia and other countries. Works of A. Sokolova and V. Chernoritsky are in museum and private collections worldwide.

Valery Chernoritsky is a recognized master continuing academic traditions, who since 2018 has been heading the Department of Monumental and Decorative Art of S. Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industries. Anastasia Sokolova is a granddaughter of Nickolai Sokolov – one of the legendary group of caricaturists “Kukryniksy” and daughter of the graphic artist Vladimir Sokolov. She successfully continues the family art traditions, her painting is a special world of color and light wh ere images of nature, landscapes and portraits are distinguished by inner lightness, the sense of contemplation.

The foundation for the artists’ creative search is several major art directions – Middle Ages, Renaissance, academism, realism, impressionism and post-impressionism, rethinking of many other “isms” of the 20th century. Respecting and honoring the legacy, they strive to maximize their own vision of the world, to create their own handwriting. Working at the crossroads of epochs, in times of global crisis and upheavals Valery Chernoritsky and Anastasia Sokolova remain

true to ideals of harmony, creation and beauty, reveal the national cultural codes, thus sensing their destiny and belonging to world cultures.
