Dates: April 30 – June 19, 2022

Venue: Exhibition Hall of the Maltsovs Museum of Crystal in the building of St. George Cathedral (2a Kalinin street, Gus-Khrustalny)

In the core of Russian glass manufacturing – the city of Gus-Khrustalny, the Maltsovs Museum of Crystal hosts a solo exhibition of works by the noted Moscow art historian, artist of graphic and decorative arts, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Elena Tsereteli.

The works by Lika Tsereteli are a tandem of fragile glass and live color. The artist decorates glass with ornaments of lines flowing into each other, abstract figures and complex color compositions. Her works are distinguished with lightness, transparency of glass and live ripple of color. She says, that her art glass comes from her childhood. “Why does glass attract me so much? As a child, I spent hours watching my father paint stained glass windows and when they were finished we examined and admired them. There was such a magical light coming through them”.

The exhibition also presents 20 graphic sheets by Lika Tsereteli – including both completed pieces and ornamental sketches. The glass and graphics executed in the same stylistics complement each other creating a holistic impression of the inner world of the artist. Located in the Museum of Crystal it continues the artist’s “Intuitive Topography” project started in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art in 2019 and can be considered as a connecting link between the traditions of ancient epochs and today’s vision of art glass.
