The Titanic Sculptor Zurab Tsereteli Will Show His Miniatures in St. Petersburg: The Exhibition in the Constantine Palace Presents Almost 100 Enamels on the Biblical Topics and Small Replicas of His Monuments.

Zurab Tsereteli opens his solo show of small plastic art and enamels in the Constantine Palace in Strelna near St. Petersburg.

The Russians mostly know the sculptor’s monumental works: monument to Peter I in Moscow; Victory monument on Poklonnaya Hill and many others. The exhibition in the Constantine Palace highlights about 100 miniatures, enamels on the Biblical Topics. The major part of the show is unique works executed in the technique of the cloisonné enamel that has been revived by Zurab Tsereteli. All the exhibits are from the private collection of the master.

“This exhibition is a rare opportunity to explore new facets of Zurab Tsereteli’s creative work. The pieces for the show have been selected by the author himself. In the Constantine Palace he will present his enamels and small plastic art. The viewers can also see small replicas of his monumental works” – said Liudmilla Tikhonova, the Director of the Derzhavny Foundation for Support to Culture and general partner of the exhibition’s organizers.

In his work Zurab Tsereteli has exceed the limits of canons. A revolutionary in art, he became one of the first Soviet sculptors who through his art had promoted the freedom of expression. His style is distinguished by a freedom of creativity, experiments with forms and materials, a broad vision, variety of genres and techniques, constant search of new artistic media, rich and bright palette. The master’s monumental works adorn many capitals of the world, his creative legacy is enormous, his potential is inexhaustible.

The exhibition is open from May 21 till June 30, 2011in the Constantine Palace, (Strelna, near St. Petersburg).
