His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein Alois Visited the Russian Academy of Arts and Moscow Museum of Modern Art


On June 19, 2014 the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (25 Petrovka street, Moscow) in partnership with the National Museum of Liechtenstein presented the exhibition “Post-Stamps of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The History of One Project” organized by the Government of Moscow, Moscow Department of Culture, Russian Academy of Arts, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Embassy of Switzerland in Russia, Post and National Museum of Liechtenstein.

The opening ceremony has been attended by His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein Alois, who is in Moscow for a working visit in honor of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Liechtenstein, members of the official delegation of Liechtenstein, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and General Management Department of the President of the Russian Federation. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and Executive Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art Vasily Tsereteli welcomed the high guests and expressed their hope that the exhibition would contribute to the promotion of friendly relations between the two countries.

The Hereditary Prince Alois thanked the organizers of the exhibition for the opportunity to show in Moscow the rich collection of stamps dedicated to the history and top sights of Liechtenstein. He also noted, that philately played a significant role in the political, cultural and business life of the Principality. It is  post stamps that made the small state in the center of Europe well known in the world.  

The exhibition, that will be open till June 29, 2014, offers 28 series of post stamps of Liechtenstein issued in various years.

His Serene Highness Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein Alois also visited Tsereteli Art Gallery and the Russian Academy of Arts where Prince Alois, the recognized art collector and philatelist, was presented with the regalia of the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts.
