Exhibition of Works By the Celebrated Chinese Artist and Mater of Calligraphy Wang Xuezhong in Tsereteli Art Gallery

From August 14-26, 2007 on display in Tsereteli Art Gallery in Moscow will be works of art by the contemporary celebrated Chinese artist and master of calligraphy, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Wang Xuezhong. The exhibition is held within the framework of the “Year of China” in Russia and in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts. Wang Xuezhong is a master of a wide creative range. The exposition will show more than 60 works executed in the traditional Chinese painting technique and his avant-garde canvases. Through extensive use of complex color correlations the artist depicts his view of the existence and attitude to the world. In 1945 Wang Xuezhong graduated from the Peking Institute of Arts. In 1949 he perfected his skills in the Peking Art School specializing in the traditional Chinese painting on silk and paper with ink and other water-soluble media and became a recognized master of this kind of art. Wang Xuezhong is a Professor of Painting of Tianjin University. He is an author of a number of researches on the theory of painting and calligraphy, of the novel “Key” and some collected poems. In China there are three Art Galleries of Wang Xuezhong and an Institute for research of his creative work. Wang Xuezhong’s works have been appreciated and exhibited not only in China but in many other countries. He is a winner of numerous national honors and diplomas for his outstanding achievements in the field of art. “I feel deeply honored to display my works in Moscow under the auspices of the world renowned Russian Academy of Arts in its jubilee year. It is of special significance to me that the exhibition will be held during the “Year of China” in Russia. “I hope, that the exhibition will contribute to deepening of ties between Chinese and Russian figures of art as well as to strengthening of friendship between our peoples”, said Wang Xuezhong sending his works to Moscow.
