Exhibition of Works by Nickolai Vdovkin in the Russian Academy of Arts

Organized to mark the 60th anniversary of Nickolai Vdovkin, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, the exhibition presents a retrospective of the artist’s enamels, paintings and graphic works.

Nickolai Vdovkin is a recognized master of enamels in Russia. An alumnus of the High Art and Industrial School (former Stroganov Art College), he has started out in monumental art creating stained glasses, mosaics, mural paintings and is a winner of a number of international prizes. For several recent decades Nickolai Vdovkin has been working in enamel art which he has enriched by new color technologies.

The permanent topics of his creative work are love, a battle between Good and Evil, the nature, space, an image of a woman-mother. Many artist’s works feature multi-figured compositions, often of tragic sounding and sometimes containing mythological context.

Nickolai Vdovkin lives and works in Stavropol region. A man of enormous vital energy, he is actively involved in teaching. In his studio he arranges annual symposiums on enamel fabrication attracting artists from many countries.
