Solo Exhibition of Works by Vadim Kulakov in the Russian Academy of Arts

The Russian Academy of Arts presents a solo show of recent paintings, watercolors, sketches and sculpture by Vadim Kulakov, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Vadim Kulakov is an author of about 20 monumental works: frescoes, mosaics, reliefs executed in many cities of Russia and other countries. One of the master’s well-known works in Moscow is a mosaic on the facade of the Little Ascension Church in Bolshaya Nikitskaya street.

The artist’s easel paintings are distinguished by their complicated color arrangement with contrasts of light and shadow. Many of his works are devoted to people of small Russian towns. In them is depicted the master’s life philosophy which focuses on the problems of the eternal and momentary, terrestrial and celestial, the past and future. He does not show their everyday life, he shows their existence, it is not their faces that he is interested in, he portrays the images of people who live in consent with themselves, with each other, with the surrounding nature. Their world is ideal and free from trifles, it seems to be a source of the artist’s inner harmony and tranquility.

The favorite topic of his still lives is flowers that “accompany” us throughout our life bringing the atmosphere of feast, joy and warmth.
