Solo Show of Works by Zurab Tsereteli in Veliky Novgorod

Organized by the Administration of Veliky Novgorod and the Russian Academy of Arts, the solo show of works by People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli will be opened within the program of events in honor of the city’s 1150th anniversary on September 18, 2009.

 

This is the first solo show of works by the world renowned artist and sculptor in Veliky Novgorod whose monuments and sculptures found their home in many cities throughout the world.

 

The exposition features over 50 works including the artist’s paintings, colorful three-dimensional enamels from “Biblical Topics” and “Croatia” series, drawings,  serigraphs, bronze reliefs from his “Townspeople” series, models of monumental sculptural compositions such as  his monument “Good Defeats Evil” on the foreground of the United Nations building in New York,  monument to St. Nino who baptized Georgia and many others.  Of big interest will be portraits of Charlie Chaplin, one of Tsereteli’s favorite characters, executed by the artist in various media.
