Tsereteli Art Gallery Presents the 20th Century Art from the Collection of the Vasnetsov Brothers Regional Art Museum in Kirov

The exhibition in Tsereteli Art Gallery features the 20th century art works from the collection of V.M. Vasnetsov and A.M. Vasnetsov Kirov Regional Art Museum which is one of the oldest in the Russian province and marks its centenary this year. Among its founders were both noted representatives of the Vyatka (now Kirov) community such as the Vasnetsov brothers Victor and Apollinary,  Nickolai Mashkovtsev and the celebrated Moscow collectors Ivan Morozov and Sergei Schukin. 

Today, the Museum houses over 20000 works by Russian and foreign masters of painting, graphic art, sculpture, decorative and applied arts.

The show in Tsereteli Art Gallery presents a rare collection of the 20th century Russian and Soviet art  including  artists of Russian avant-garde, diverse art groups of the early 20th century –  Association of Artists of the Revolutionary Russia (1922-1932), society of artists “Makovets” (1921-1927),  association of artists OST (1925-1931); masters of Socialist Realism, “severe style” art trend of the 1950s-1960s,  a collection of paintings of the second half of the 20th century comprising original national art schools.

The centerpieces of the display are works by renowned artists such as Vasily Kandinsky, Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova, Nadezhda Udaltsova, Peter Konchalovsky,  Alexander Osmerkin,  Robert Falk,  Alexander Gerasimov,  Sergei Gerasimov, Alexei Gritsai, Yuri Pimenov, Nickolai Romadin, Vladimir  Stozharov and others.
