The Retrospective of Works by the Honored Artist of Russia at the Russian Academy of Arts

On September 8, 2015 the Russian Academy of Arts presents a retrospective of works by the noted Moscow painter, Honored Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Ivan Polienko including more than 80 paintings and graphic works of various years mostly devoted to Moscow and its suburbs.

Ivan Polienko was born in 1950 in the village of Dedenevo, the Moscow region. In 1982 he graduated from V. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, the studio of theatrical and decorative art headed by Michael Kurilko-Ryumin. Since 1985 – Member of the USSR Union of Artists, since 1990 – member of the Board of Directors of the Moscow Artists’ Partnership, since 1999 – Professor of the State Specialized Academy of Arts.

Ivan Polienko’s painting is distinguished by the combination of the strictness of composition and sharp black and white contrasts with the deep study of plastic component. His works are in collections of the Culture Minister of the RF, Moscow Artists’ Union, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Institute of Russian Realistic Art (Moscow), Ryazan Regional Art Museum, Tomsk Regional Art Museum, Kemerovo Regional Art Museum, Tula Museum of Fine Arts, Plyos State History and Architecture Art Museum-Preserve, as well as in private collections in Russian and other countries. In 2002 Ivan Polienko became a winner of the Moscow Prize in Literature and Arts for a series of his works dedicated to the city of Moscow.
