The ERARTA Museum of Modern Art presents easel works by the world renowned sculptor, People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Georgi Frangulyan produced in various styles and materials.

Georgi Frangulyan has authored many monumental works including the monument to Peter I in Antwerp, monument to Alexander Pushkin in Brussels, allegorical figures on the building of the Russian Academy of Sciences, monuments to Bulat Okudzhava, Joseph Brodsky, Dmitry Shostakovich, Anatoly Tarasov in Moscow, Empress Elizabeth I in Baltiysk, Isaak Babel in Odessa, Albert Einstein in Israel. His unique sculptural composition “Dante’s Ship”, that depicts Dante and Virgil sailing to the other world was installed directly on the lagoon’s water surface between the Fondamenta Nuovo and the Island of San Michele in Venice (2007). The sculptor’s memorial to victims of political purges “The Wall of Grief” became the first national memorial to those who had been repressed.

Georgi Frangulyan works in the genre of easel and monumental sculpture with various materials such as bronze, marble, wood, ceramics, glass, as well as creates graphic and pictorial works. His creative method is distinguished by the search of new plaster forms shaping the surrounding space as the sculptor believes that the monumentality is not in the physical size but in the plaster idea serving as the basis for an artwork.
