The Russian Academy of Arts presents an exhibition of world famous Russian shawls showcasing the 225th history of their manufacture in Pavlov Posad. The unique school of author’s headscarf patterns has been preserving the traditions of this national craft since 1870.
On display are headscarves and shawls produced on the basis of patterns by such distinguished 20th century artists as K.E. Abolikhin, S.V. Postigov, People’s Artist of Russia, Laureate of I. Repin State Prize of Russia Z.A. Olshevsky, Honored Artists of Russia E.P. Regunova and S.P. Ryzhova, as well as artists L.S. Shakhovskaya, E.I. Shtykhin, K.S. Zinovieva, N.I. Slascheva.
Contemporary artists study the work of previous masters creating new patterns and developing the art style of Pavlov Posad shawls. The creative team of the Pavlov Posad Manufactory is headed by the Honored Artist of Russia, Winner of State Prizes of Russia, Prizes of the Russian Government and the Governor of the Moscow Region, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Victor Zubritsky.
