The Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts hosts a solo show of the Honored Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Elena Mukhina. The exhibition showcases a retrospective of the artist's almost 100 works including her noted series "Portraits of Friends", "Adam and Eve", "Indian Summer", "Big Nudes", as well the recent cycles such as "Angels" and others.

The canvases of Elena Mukhina surprisingly exist on the edge of chamber genre and monumental panel and are a kind of a "picturesque song" of the generous sensuality and full-blooded beauty of Russian women's life. Each of her pictures is an undeniable testimony to the bright poetry, individuality of the manner, power of the pictorial language, courage of creative searches of the master.

Elena Mukhina was born in 1954 in Yaroslavl into the family of the artist Fyodor Novotelnov. She graduated fr om the Yaroslavl Art College, wh ere her teachers were pupils of the distinguished artist Alexander Osmerkin - Valery Leontiev, Yulia Druzhinina and others. Since 1975, she has been a regular exhibitor at many regional, republican and international art shows, since 1996 her solo exhibitions have been held in many cities of Russia. The artist's works are in private collections in Russia, Great Britain, Germany, France, Japan, USA, as well as in art museums of Yaroslavl, Norilsk, Exeter (Great Britain), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

The art of Elena Mukhina is well known in Moscow. Seventeen years ago she literally burst into the art space of the capital striking the public with the energy of her canvases and graphic works and leaving no place for indifference. Her painting attracted the viewers by the artist's sincerity, original vision of the world, openness of feelings and special light - the light of love that radiated from her work.

The time has not erased or diminished these qualities. The images of the series "Big Nudes", "Dance", "Motherhood" marked by the greatness of being the fair sex embody a certain intimacy and at the same time everyday life of a modern woman. The pictorial cycles "Indian Summer", "Baths", "Summer Amusements", "My Angel, Follow Me" are full of extraordinary warmth and rhythm of life. The freedom and fantasy of the artist's compositional thinking, determination and subtle harmony of the pictorial structure of her canvases give birth to images that are exciting and memorable.
