The Crocodile Magazine is a unique phenomenon unrivaled in the literary and art culture and journalism of the satirical genre. It is enough to mention, that the circulation of the publication has reached 6 million copies.  For 78 years of its existence there were published tens of thousands of the most urgent, acute social caricatures showing the shortcomings and vices of the reality. Those were topical satirical drawings on international political themes, caricatures in the genre of everyday humor reflecting the country’s life including the years of struggle against interventionists, civil war, industrialization and collectivization, Stalin’s purges, hard times of the Great Patriotic War, periods of stagnation, restructuring and new history.

The creators of legendary caricatures were world famous artists including members of the USSR Academy of Arts and Russian Academy of Arts, these are Boris Efimov; Kukryniksy; Dmitry Moor; Ivan Malyutin; Mikhail Cheremnykh; Victor Deni; Lev Brodaty; Konstantin Rotov; Vladimir Kozlinsky; Mikhail Trapkovsky; Aminodav Kanevsky; Yuly Ganf; Konstantin Eliseev; Ivan Semenov; Boris Prorokov; Vitaly Goryaev; Leonid Soifertis; Evgeny Shuksev; Anatoly Tsvetkov; Evgeny Gurov; Victor Chizhikov; Herman Ogorodnikov; Vladimir Mochalov and others. The fantasy, acute social topics, high professionalism, art concepts and their technical implementation are the distinguished features of the above artists who make us feel proud of the Russian masters of graphic art.
