Winners of the Prize for Achievements in Tourism Will Be Presented With Bronze Statuettes “Peter the Great” designed by Zurab Tsereteli

In Memory of Artist Edward Drobitski

     The Russian art has suffered a big loss.  On the 67th year stopped the life of the  People’s Artist of Russia, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, President of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, President of the International  Federation of Artists Edward Drobitski. The artist was buried in Troyekurovskoye cemetery in Moscow.

UNESCO Has Announced Presentation of the Program “Year of Child in Moscow” to Be Held in Paris on September 23, 2007

Monument to Admiral Kuznetsov Sculptured by People’s Artist of Russia Michael Pereyaslavets Will Find its Home in the Center of Moscow

The Moscow authorities have backed up the initiative of the Russian Public Movement for Support to the Navy to create a monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Admiral of the Fleet  Nicholai Kuznetsov.  The statue will be placed in the park near the intersection of Boyarski Lane and Sadovo-Chernogryazskay street.

Words of Gratitude from the United Nations Organization

The unveiling ceremony for the bust of Sergio Vieira de Mello, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (from September 2002 to August 2003) who lost his life in the bombing of UN headquarters  in Iraq on August 19, 2003, was attended by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The monument has been designed by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and presented as a gift to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland.

Monument to Oleg of Ryazan by Zurab Tsereteli Will Be Dedicated in Ryazan

Silver Coin in Honor of the 250th Anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts Will Be Put in Circulation

On September 3, 2007 the Bank of Russia will put in circulation  four  memorable silver coins. One of them is dedicated to the jubilee of the Russian Academy of Arts. Its face-value is three roubles. The coin is made of 925 silver alloy, the circulation – 10000 coins.

Bronze Bust of the Ballet Dancer Natalia Dudinskaya by People’s Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Grigori Yastrebenetski Will Be Unveiled in St. Petersburg

     The bronze bust of the ballet dancer Natalia Dudinskaya (1912-2003)  by People’s Artist of Russia and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts  Grigori Yastrebenetski will be dedicated on the campus of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions (15 Fuchika street) on September 1, 2007.  Since 1995 Natalia Dudinskaya has been an Honorary Doctor of the above University.

The Launch of the 173-d Moscow Subway Station by the Day of Moscow

By the Day of Moscow will be launched the “Trubnaya” Moscow subway station. The finishing work is being completed.  The station décor is dedicated to the city of Moscow and towns of the Golden Ring around Moscow that are  well-known Russian tourists attractions – Rostov the Great, Pereslavl- Zalesski, Sergiev Posad and others.

Well-Known Characters in the Scale of Zurab Tsereteli

Today, a lot of unloading work has been in full swing at the building of the Sochi Art Museum. It is a solo exhibition of Zurab Tsereteli to be displayed in the city. The big sculptures of cinema characters, and not only them, will find their temporary home on the Museum’s stairs.

“Night at the Ipatiev House” New Sculptural Composition by Zurab Tsereteli

In the Art Gallery (19 Prechistenka street) there was a presentation of a new sculpture by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts  Zurab Tsereteli. The bronze multi-figure composition “Night at the Ipatiev House”  is dedicated to the tragic death of the Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family.

Russian memorial to slain UN Iraq envoy unveiled in Geneva

GENEVA, June 29 (UNHCR) – Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has unveiled a bronze bust in Geneva of peace-keeping veteran Sergio Vieira de Mello, who was killed four years ago during a terrorist attack in Baghdad four years ago.

Brazilian UN Envoy Killed in Iraq Gets a Bronze Bust in Geneva

Sérgio Vieira de Mello, a Brazilian ambassador to the UN who was killed four years ago during a terrorist attack while on assignment in Iraq, was honored this Thursday, June 28, by the United Nations with  the unveiling in Geneva of a bronze likeness of the 30-year Brazilian veteran of many UN peacekeeping operations .

UN honours Iraq envoy slain in 2003 Baghdad terror attack

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli has been awarded a medal of St. Cyril and St. Mephodi for his big contribution to the development of culture. The President of the Slavic Foundation of Russia Galina Bogolyubova presented the medal to Zurab Tsereteli at the  meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts in Moscow on June 26, 2007.
