Unveiling of the Monument to the Army Skier by Zurab Tsereteli in the Patriot Park in Moscow

On July 24, 2017 in the Patriot Park (55 km from Moscow) there was an unveiling of the 6.5m tall “Army Skier” monument  by the renowned artist ans sculptor, People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the Director of the Patriot Park Sergey Miroshnichenko, Deputy Head of the Army Department for Physical Training and Sports colonel Andrey Zykov, Deputy Head of the Federal Autonomous Entity of the Defense Ministry of the RF - CSKA lieutenant colonel Svetlana Ishmuratova, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli.

The military and patriotic park of culture and recreation “Patriot”, opened to the public in 2015, offers a lot of opportunities to learn many interesting details about the course of the Great Patriotic War and about what price got the Great Victory.

During the Great Patriotic War, along with other kinds of troops special ski units were actively involved in combat actions and made a worthy contribution to the Victory. Many of them for their heroism and bravery were awarded orders and medals.
