30.08.2021 -

On August 30, 2021 on the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan there was an unveiling of the memorial plaque commemorating the renowned Tatar writer Kavi Nadzhmi and his spouse and translator Sarvar Adgamova. The ceremony was attended by the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Counsellor of State  Mintimer Shaimiev and the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.

The memorial plaque created in the workshop of the People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli was placed on the wall of the house in Kazan  (57 B Bolshaya Krasnaya street), where the writer had lived with his family.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts addressed the residents of Tatarstan and Kazan with the Letter of Greetings, which, in particular, runs:

“Dear friends!

I am happy to welcome the Republic of Tatarstan, beautiful city of Kazan and its residents!

Here, on the land blessed with talents, the special attention is paid to preservation of historical memory, pages of our history, eminent figures whose contribution and deeds we must always keep in memory. In the fabrics of the past lies the energy of the present and the potential for the future. It is very important to educate the younger generation that will remember ancestors, appreciate their significant role in the formation of the cultural space in Russia.

With big interest I have worked at the image of the distinguished writer, poet Kavi Nadzhmi and his spouse, muse Sarvar Adgamova. For me, it was an opportunity to study the unique creative space of the word and image, to be inspired by the story of love and fidelity of the two strong personalities.

I am always happy to come to Tatarstan which impresses me with its original beauty and hospitality. I have been honored to visit Kazan for the implementation of various creative projects and very much hope for the new meeting soon.

I would like to wish good health, love, well-being and prosperity to the wonderful city of Kazan!

Sincerely yours, Zurab Tsereteli,

People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, Hero of the Socialist Labor, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador”.
