THE ART OF PETER THE GREAT ERA: IN HONOR OF THE 350TH ANNIVERSARY OF PETER I – THE FOUNDER OF THE IMPERIAL ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES: RESEARCH CONFERENCE - XXXIII ALPATOV READINGS

The Department of Art History and Art Criticism of the Russian Academy of Arts (RAA) and the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the RAA invite you to take part in the XXXIII Alpatov Readings “The Art of Peter the Great Era: In Honor of the 350th Anniversary of Peter I – the Founder of the Imperial Academy of Arts and Sciences” that will take place on November 24, 2022 in the White Hall of the Russian Academy of Arts (21 Prechistenka street, Moscow). The research project is curated by Dmitry Shvidkovsky, the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Head of the Department of Art History and Art Criticism of the Russian Academy of Arts, President of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Rector of the Moscow Institute of Architecture, Doctor of Art History.

 

The history of fine arts and architecture in the time of Peter the Great marks an important stage in the formation of the national identity of Russian artistic culture, reveals significant features of the space development of Russia, introduces new materials and facts in the scientific usage, specifies the interaction of Russian and European Art and the role of Russian art in the world.

 

The Conference is aimed to:

-study the legacy of Russian art of the late Middle Ages;

-study the processes of the formation of the national identity of Russian art of the early New Time;

-to reveal the mechanisms of Russian art development of Peter the Great era;

-analyze the system of interaction of Russian and world art in the time of Peter the Great;

-introduce new information about Russian art of the late 17th – early 18th centuries into the humanitarian science.
