IN HONOR OF THE 60TH JUBILEE OF THE HONORARY MEMBER OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS KHALTMAAGIIN BATTULGA

On March 3, 2023 the Mongolian statesman and politician, Honored Sports Figure of Mongolia, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Khaltmaagiin Battulga is marking his 60th jubilee.

 

Khaltmaagiin Battulga was born in Ulan-Bator in 1963. He graduated fr om the School of Fine Arts of Mongolia wh ere he majored in monumental art and since 1982 worked for the Fine Arts Commission of Mongolia. In 1979-1990 he was a member of the National Sambo Team, in 1983 - won the Gold Medal of the World Sambo Championship. In 1989 he won the Sambo World Cup.

 

In 2004 Khaltmaagiin Battulga was elected to the Great State Hural of Mongolia. In 2008-2012 he served as the Minister of Roads, Transportation, Construction and Urban Development, later headed the Ministry for Food Industry, Agriculture and Light Industry. Since 2017 till 2021 – President of Mongolia.

 

As the President, he has greatly contributed to the promotion of Russian-Mongolian relations, including the cooperation of Russian and Mongolian art entities, as well as the development of Mongolian art. He actively supported the fundamental researches in the field of key Eurasian structures. Under his auspices there have been executed vast archaeological excavations and studies at Gol Mod-2 burial grounds in the Arkhangal aimag of Mongolia. He initiated the construction of the huge 40m tall monument to Genghis Khan not far from Ulan-Bator and the Tourist Complex “Mongolia of the 13th Century” on the area of 88 hectares.

 

The Russian Academy of Arts has congratulated Mr. Khalmaagiin Battulga on his Jubilee. The Letter of Greetings, in particular, runs:

     The scale of your multi-sided personality is worthy of sincere admiration. You have achieved great success in art, sports, politics, business. It is hard to overestimate your significant contribution to preservation of the rich and great history of Mongolia and rebirth of its national traditions. Your political career, including the highest position of the President of Mongolia, proves your determination to make Mongolia a strong country of big economic and cultural potential. The Russian Academy of Arts highly appreciates your contribution to the promotion of a cultural dialogue between Russia and Mongolia.

Let your desire to learn new things, to achieve bright victories and outstanding accomplishments not fade away. Let what is most precious in life be strong – health, friendship and family!”
