On August 17, 2023 in the Apple Hall of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Academy of Arts (19 Prechistenka street, Moscow) there was the 12th presentation of the Philanthropist International Award for outstanding achievements of physically challenged people in culture and art. Since 1997 more than 11000 disabled people from 36 countries and all the regions of Russia have applied for the award, 488 applicants became its winners.
The Russian Academy of Arts is a social partner of the Project. For many years, the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab K. Tsereteli has been the head of the Philanthropist Award jury, as well as has been actively involved in the work of its Organizing Committee and the Board of Trustees. Several years ago he received a special prize for his efficient assistance to physically challenged people and public organizations for the disabled.
The event has been timed to the International Day of Invalids and the 35th anniversary of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled. This year the awards have been given to 18 laureates who achieved distinguished results in art. The “Philanthropist” is awarded once every two years. The premium fund is formed entirely from extra-budgetary sources by attracting sponsorship funds.
The celebration of the 35th anniversary of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled will be continued by the Gala Concert “Life in the Name of Good” that will take place on August 18, 2023 in the Hall of Church Councils of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
