Dialogue of Cultures in the Space of Academic School: Exhibition in the Moscow Academy Art Lyceum
Organized by the Russian Academy of Arts in partnership with the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation the exhibition brings together over 100 paintings, graphic and sculptural works by artists from the republics of the North Caucasus created for the last two decades.

Paintings by Irina Savitskaya at the Russian Academy of Arts
The exhibition presents fifty paintings by Irina Savitskaya who continues the traditions of her grandfather Konstantin Savitsky (1844-1905) - artist of the Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions and his son George K. Savitsky (1887-1949), Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts. The Art College and Regional Art Gallery in Penza, which director he was, have been named after Konstantin Savitsky.

Major Retrospective of Graphic Art in Krasnoyarsk
The exhibition at the Urals, Siberia and Far East regional department of the Russian Academy of Arts in Krasnoyarsk provides a grand-scale survey of the Russian graphic art of 1980-2010. On display are over 170 works by recognized masters and young graphic artists and painters from all the regions of Russia.

Solo Show of Paintings by Nickolai Blokhin at the Academy Museum in St. Petersburg
The celebrated St. Petersburg artist Nickolai Blokhin is a world recognized master of portrait painting. He is a holder of the two most prestigious art prizes of the United States: Grand Prize at the 2002 competition of the American Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA) and Best of Show Award at the International Portrait Competition (2004) of the Portrait Society of America (PSA).

Mosfilm Cinema Concern in association with ProLab Curator present photographs by Vasily Tsereteli in the project “Undeveloped Photographers”. Vasily Tsereteli is an Executive Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. Since 2007 he has been a commissioner of the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. On show in the Gallery at Mosfilm are Vasily Tsereteli’s photographs of various years.

Masterclass by the Celebrated St. Petersburg Painter Nickolai Blokhin in the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts
On March 6, Nickolai Blokhin will give a masterclass in painting within the framework of his solo show (18 February – 21 March 2010) in the exhibition halls of the Academy Research Museum (17 University Embankment, St. Petersburg). Nickolai Blokhin was Grand Prize at the 2002 competition of the American Society of Portrait Artists (ASOPA), the largest portrait society in the world and a winner of Best of Show Award at the prestigious International Portrait Competition (2004) of the Portrait Society of America (PSA).

The “Holy Russia” Exhibition in the Louvre Inaugurated During an Official Visit of the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to France Includes Works From the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts
The “Holy Russia” landmark exhibition opened in the Musee du Louvre on March 2 by the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and President of France Nicolas Sarcozy provides a grand-scale survey of Russian art from the Beginnings to Peter the Great. The show is one of the major events in honor of the Year of France in Russia and the Year of Russia in France.

Events in Honor of the 1000th Anniversary of Yaroslavl Will Be Held in UNESCO Headquarters in Paris
From February 22-24, 2010 UNESCO Headquarters in Paris will host events in honor of the 1000th anniversary of the city of Yaroslavl. The Yaroslavl land will be represented by the Governor of Yaroslavl Region Sergei Vakhrukov, the Mayor of Yaroslavl Victor Volonchunas and the first woman in space Valentina Tereshkova. The focus of the events will be an exhibition “Ten Centuries – Ten Histories”.

Zurab Tsereteli is a Chevalier of the National Order of the Legion of Honor
The highest decoration of France will be presented to the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. The National Order of the Legion of Honor (Ordre national de la Legion d’honneur) was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 and is awarded by the President of France. In his letter dated February 1, 2010 the French President Nicolas Sarkozy has specially noted: “This authoritative decoration which I have considered it necessary to confer on you from my personal reserves of crosses is an expression of gratitude for your services to this country and proved devotion to France”.

Portrait of the Prominent Russian Scientist Gury Marchuk Has Become a Part of the Portrait Gallery of Outstanding Scientists at the Russian Academy of Sciences
The portrait of Gury Marchuk, the prominent Russian scientist in the fields of computational mathematics and physics of atmosphere, President of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1986-1991 has been created by the People’s Artist of Russia Vasily Nesterenko. The handover ceremony at the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences was attended by President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yury Osipov.

On January 27, 2010 Zurab Tsereteli visited Stavropol to take part in the closing of his solo exhibition. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Stavropol Krai (federal subject of Russia) Valery Gaevsky, the Mayor of Stavropol Nikolai Paltsev.

Round Table on the Show of Works by Fausta Squatriti in Tsereteli Art Gallery
On January 15, in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, there was a round table on “Ethics-Aesthetics, Criticism – Clinic” curated by Evelina Shats. The focus of the discussions was a solo show of works by Fausta Squatriti entitled ECCE HOMO and organized by the Russian Academy of Arts, Italian Institute of Culture and the Brera Academy in Milan.

Memorial Plaque Commemorating the Soviet Politician and Diplomat Andrei Gromyko (1909-1989) Was Unveiled in Moscow
To mark the 100th birth anniversary of the eminent diplomat and politician Andrei Gromyko, a memorial plaque designed by Zurab Tsereteli was unveiled on the wall of the house in Leontievsky Pereulok where he had lived from 1963 till 1989. Andrei Gromyko served as Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union from 1957 till 1985 and was the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in 1985-1988.

President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Submitted Proposals for the Promotion and Improvement of Academic Science and Education in the State Duma
On December 22, 2009 in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation the Just Russia fraction held a round table on the topic: The State Policy in the Field of Fine Arts. Legal Support. Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts specified main problems of preservation of the Russian system of Academic education and submitted proposals for its development.
