Go Along a Free Road…: Graphic Works by the People’s Artist of Russia Myud Mechev at the Press Center of the “Arguments and Facts” Publishing House in Moscow
The Russian Academy of Arts presents in association with Arguments and Facts publishing house a solo show of 70 works by the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Honored Art Worker of Karelia Myud Mechev produced in various graphic techniques – gouache, tempera, watercolor, mixed media, colored prints and others.

Graphic Works of the People’s Artist of Russia Lev Shepelev Are On Show in the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences
The exhibition to be opened on the Day of Russian Science, on February 8, in the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences showcases 50 graphic works by Prof. Lev Shepelev, member of the Presidium, Full Member and Academician-Secretary of the Graphic Art Department of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Photographs by Vasily Tsereteli in the Project “Undeveloped Photographers”
Mosfilm Cinema Concern in association with ProLab Curator present photographs by Vasily Tsereteli in the project “Undeveloped Photographers”. Vasily Tsereteli is an Executive Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. Since 2007 he has been a commissioner of the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. On show in the Gallery at Mosfilm are Vasily Tsereteli’s photographs of various years.

The Russian Academy of Arts, Austrian Cultural Forum in Moscow and Kunstmuseum Waldviertel (Austria) present sixty paintings by Prof., Mag.Arch. Efthymios Makis Warlamis produced in various media. Efthymios Makis Warlamis is one of the most extraordinary architects and artists of today. Solo Show of Works by the People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Andriyaka in the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum
This major retrospective of works by the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Sergei Andriyaka is being held in the exhibition halls of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum, as this art school is closely connected with his father – Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Nikolai Andriyaka (1905-1977) who taught at the Lyceum since its foundation in 1939 and was its Director from 1967 till 1977.

Labyrinth: Solo Show of Works by Anatoly Chechik in Tsereteli Art Gallery
Tsereteli Art Gallery presents Anatoly Chechik’s united composition of ninety paintings living and breathing its “ninety” souls, ninety pulsing fragments of one and the same organism – but still absolutely independent paintings of diverse formats and even genres (Chechik has worked against all existing good manners in painting – each of them is able to “live its own life”, but together they are inseparable).

Together on Their Way: Paintings of Oleg Eremeev in Slavinsky Art Gallery in St. Petersburg
The name of the exhibition has been chosen by the organizers to congratulate the People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Oleg Eremeev and his spouse on the 50th anniversary of their married life. Slavinsky Art Gallery presents the artist’s paintings of various years including canvases portraying his beloved wife Svetlana.

Works From the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts Are Being Prepared for Shipment to Paris
The Russian Academy of Arts will be actively involved in the bilateral state project “The Year of France in Russia and the Year of Russia in France”. The Academy has worked out a large-scale exhibition project including expositions to be shown both in Russia and France.

Visit of the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli to Stavropol
On January 27, 2010 Zurab Tsereteli visited Stavropol to take part in the closing of his solo exhibition. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Stavropol Krai (federal subject of Russia) Valery Gaevsky, the Mayor of Stavropol Nikolai Paltsev.

Round Table on the Show of Works by Fausta Squatriti in Tsereteli Art Gallery
On January 15, in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, there was a round table on “Ethics-Aesthetics, Criticism – Clinic” curated by Evelina Shats. The focus of the discussions was a solo show of works by Fausta Squatriti entitled ECCE HOMO and organized by the Russian Academy of Arts, Italian Institute of Culture and the Brera Academy in Milan.

Memorial Plaque Commemorating the Soviet Politician and Diplomat Andrei Gromyko (1909-1989) Was Unveiled in Moscow
To mark the 100th birth anniversary of the eminent diplomat and politician Andrei Gromyko, a memorial plaque designed by Zurab Tsereteli was unveiled on the wall of the house in Leontievsky Pereulok where he had lived from 1963 till 1989. Andrei Gromyko served as Foreign Minister of the Soviet Union from 1957 till 1985 and was the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in 1985-1988.

President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli Submitted Proposals for the Promotion and Improvement of Academic Science and Education in the State Duma
On December 22, 2009 in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation the Just Russia fraction held a round table on the topic: The State Policy in the Field of Fine Arts. Legal Support. Zurab Tsereteli, President of the Russian Academy of Arts specified main problems of preservation of the Russian system of Academic education and submitted proposals for its development.

Session of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts in Memory of Vasily Kandinsky
On December 15, 2009 the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts is holding a session commemorating Vasily Kandinsky, the world renowned Russian painter whose creative work has greatly influenced the development of world art. In the session timed to the artist’s 65th death anniversary will take part descendents of several branches and generations of the Kandinsky family tree.

Within the framework of the 5th International Festival of Children’s Artworks “ A Hundred Thousand Suns” Zurab Tsereteli has given a masterclass for its participants from 18 countries aged four to seventeen. Among them are physically challenged and orphan children.

The 70th Anniversary of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum
On November 24, 2009 the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum, 8 Krymsky Val, will mark its 70th anniversary. It was set up in 1939 as the Moscow Secondary Art School. In 1951 the School became a division of the USSR Academy of Arts and in 1992 was reformed into the Moscow State Academy Art Museum.
